Barrow battle with Barnet

Barrow did well to earn a point from a 2-2 draw at home to Barnet in League Two.

The Bluebirds had to play for nearly an hour with 10 men after MJ Williams was shown a straight red card after lashing out at Idris Kanu.

Barrow manager Andy Whing had no arguments about the dismissal nd thought the referee did well in his first EFL game in the middle.

Walsall loanee Josh Gordon, back in a familiar Barrow shirt,  had given his side the lead after just nine minutes.

Connor Mahoney found him well with a clever pass and Gordon did the rest with a clinical finish.

It was almost two for Gordon but Nik Tavares got back to clear off the line after his keeper Owen Evans’ after he had been stranded out of goal.

Six minutes into the second half Callum Stead put Barnet on terms when he drilled in a third goal in five appearances.

Stead had a second ruled out for offside, but the visitors did go in front on the hour.

Adam Senior let one go which thundered into the net in eye-catching fashion.

He almost grabbed a spectacular second minutes later but this one struck the bar.

After Wyll Stanway had fumbled a shit from Nnamdi Ofoborh, he redeemed himself with an excellent  close-range save to keep out Stead’s follow-up.

Defemnsive hero with his earlier goal-line clearance, Tavares was unfortunate to deflect a shot from Elliot Newby into his own net for Barrow’s 68th minute leveller.

A dramatic game ended with Barnet almost snatching a win when a goalmouth scramble looked likely to give them a goal before it was cleared.
