
Four young people camping the Lake District were rescued after their tents collapsed in high winds.
Coniston Mountain Rescue Team was called at around 1.50am today, Wednesday, October 28 to Saddlestone Quarries below Coniston Old Man.
The youngsters had called 999 as their tents collapsed in the wind and rain and they needed help to come down.
Coniston Mountain Rescue Team said: “Two vehicles were deployed to Windy Gap and we walked up from there.
“On arrival the group was given warm drinks and dry clothing.
“Once all their equipment was packed away we accompanied them down to the Land Rovers. Back at base they were given chocolate bars and offered hot drinks.
“Parents of one of the party drove up to collect them.”
The incident took four hours and 45 minutes.
