
Liberty X will headline Workington’s Christmas lights switch-on later this month.
The event will take place on Saturday November 29 from 11am to 5.15pm in the town centre.
Liberty X – Jessica Taylor, Michelle Heaton, and Kelli Young – will perform their biggest hits including the Brit Award-winning number one single Just A Little.
From their breakthrough on Popstars to their eight top 10 hits and over a million albums sold worldwide, the trio are bringing their incredible energy and unforgettable hits to Workington town centre for one special performance.
The main stage, managed by Rock With, will host continuous entertainment throughout the day, featuring local artists including Paul Nicholson, Laura Bailey, Palo Alto, Electric Circus, Annie Jackson-Elliott, Razzmataz, and The Window View.
Councillor Ellie Wood, chair of Workington Town Council’s culture & social investment committee, said: “Our Christmas festival and lights switch-on is one of the highlights of the year — a time when our community comes together to celebrate, connect, and share in the joy of the season.
“It’s about more than just lights and festivities; it’s about investing in the spirit of our town and ensuring that everyone feels part of something special. Events like this bring warmth, inclusivity, belonging, and hope to our streets, reminding us of the strength and generosity that make our community shine all year round.”
- Free activities running throughout the day include:
- Gingerbread workshops – festive baking activities
- Arts and crafts – create Christmas decorations and more with Crafty Kidz West Cumbria
- Face painting with Gray’s Arts & Facepainting and Katy Leese
- Giant snow globe -in the Carnegie Theatre
- VR sleigh ride – running 11am to 4.30pm in five-minute intervals in the Carnegie Theatre
- Gift and charity stalls
- Fun fair rides (small charge applies) by Wilmot’s Amusements
- Local food and drink vendors
The Christmas lights will be officially switched on at 5pm, followed by a final performance from Liberty X.
