
A man has died following an incident on the M6 near Carlisle.
The road was closed between Junction 42 Golden Fleece and Junction 43 Rosehill northbound after a vehicle collided with the central barrier today, Wednesday November 12.
The southbound carriageway was temporarily closed until around 1.30pm to allow an air ambulance to land.
The road had fully reopened by 2.45pm.
This evening, police said the vehicle was a tipper truck driven by a man in his 60s.
Officers said he was pronounced dead at the scene and called it a sudden death.
Cumbria police thanked drivers for their patience during the road closures.
Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to contact them.
