Workington Reds new boss Billy Barr is targeting a third successive win for his side when they travel to Walsall and take on Rushall Olympic.
A 1-0 win at Stocksbridge was earned under caretakers Brian Dawson and Billy Redden with Barr in charge for the first time for last Saturday’s 3-2 home win over Hyde.
Speaking to Cumbria Crack, Barr said: “Everything has gone well this week with the lads training well.
“Only people missing for the game at Rushall will be Dav Symington, Steve Swinglehurst and young Alfie McDonaugh.
“Dav has one more game to complete his suspension; Swings will stay behind and do some fitness work after missing out through injury last week.
“Alfie was involved in a crash yesterday. He’s OK but we are not going to risk anything with him.”
Looking at tomorrow’s opposition, Barr says that Rushall sit eight points above the Reds.
“They have scored four more goals than us and conceded four less. These are relatively fine margins but they can make a big difference,” he added.
Opposite number Ian Long says: “We go into the game in good spirits following two excellent performances on our recent travels.
“It was always going to be difficult going up to Stocksbridge in midweek, but the lads battled superbly and won the game with a late, late goal.
“We also had our young goalkeeper Jake Davies-Manton to thank for keeping that lead when shortly after we had taken the lead, and deep into time added on, he saved a penalty to earn us three excellent and valuable points.
“On the back of that we then travelled to Gainsborough last Saturday. Our hosts had enjoyed six days rest, while we didn`t even manage a training session in between the Stocksbridge game and this one.
“The lads gave another excellent, battling display and were fully worthy of the point that we brought back with us.
“Make no mistake, Gainsborough are a very good side but that`s the second time this season we have gone there and performed very well.
“So as we entertain Workington, we will be looking to continue our recent good form and look to build our momentum at the same time.
“We know though that tomorrow’s game won`t be an easy one as our opponents have the new manager ‘bounce’, winning both of their last two league fixtures.
“We will be boosted by the return of both Liam McAlinden and Fenton Heard, which will make that competition for places that little bit more difficult.”
Reds will follow up on Tuesday night with a home game against Guiseley who are three places and three points better off but from a game more.
