Cumbria Rams back in action

Cumbria Rams are back in action next week with an inter-county fixture hosted by Cockermouth RUFC.

It’s being billed as a north v south all county affair, on Saturday, December 6, but basically means Allerdale against the Rest of Cumbria through the players the Rams have registered.

The Rams ethos was started by the late John Cusack, whose packed funeral service last month underlined his popularity and with a nod to his charity work with veterans rugby.

Chris Wright is the man who is helping build on John’s legacy and he said: “This game aims to keep the brilliant momentum of vets rugby growing across the county — with several new players already joining and new faces always welcome!

“We’re also kicking off our fundraising efforts for the Cumbria Wooden Spoon total for VetsFest 2026.

“We’re hoping for a great turn-out, some quality rugby, and a top social evening afterwards. Come along, support the lads, enjoy the rugby, and be part of a great cause!

“We’ve already got 36 players signed up, and if anyone else would like to get involved please get in touch.”

Chris can be contacted on 07789 991774.
