Strong St Benedict’s side overpower Ambleside

Ambleside’s hugely encouraging start to the season wasn’t able to continue in their game at St Benedict’s.

A stronger, more experienced Benny’s side ran out 50-0 winners and they sit fourth in the table with Ambleside down to seventh.

The West Cumbrians ran in eight tries, but shared by only three players – Evan Hodgson (4), Steven Caulfield (3) and Rylan Templeton.

Two teams remain 100% at the top of the Counties 1 Cumbria table after seven games – Carlisle and Hawcoat Park.

Carlisle beat Egremont 42-23 at Warwick Road while in the south of the county Hawcoat Park beat Creighton 46-7.

Carlisle scored six tries by Jake Whittaker, Jonathsn Park, Finn Kennedy, Llloyd Clark, Freddie Rawling and Tom Graham.

In their win Hawcoat Park scored tries through Will Coles, Alex Brown, Chris Burns (2), Joe Dalton (2), Jack Shannon and man of the match scrum-half Josh Rankin. Shannon converted two and Rankin one.

Kirkby Lonsdale are third in the table and they had a 45-15 home win against Cockermouth.

Whitehaven beat Workington 34-3 at the Playground, while Millom were 21-15 winners at Windermere.
