JJ’s A are making a move to challenge for title honours as they made it three wins in a row in the JJ’s Workington Pool A League.
Facing a strong Waverly team it was JJ’s who edged the singles on the night with Wayne Hardy winning his two frames and helping his side to a 9-4 victory which moved them up to fourth.
Their club compatriots JJ’s B added to Moss Bay A’s relegation worries with a comprehensive win. Lee Sandwith’s singles and doubles display helped wrap-up a 10-3 victory.
The result means JJ’s B are joint second in the league along with last year’s runners-up Station Road A who enjoyed a 9-4 win over an out-of-sorts Pack Horse A.
Station Road C gave themselves a chance to avoid relegation thanks to an 8-5 win over JJ’s C.
Harrington Legion’s impressive doubles teamwork gave them all three frames which set up Aaron Garrity to deliver the killer blow to the Cons Club B as the Legion ran out 8-5 winners.
The WashHouse Miners are now favourites to win the C league as they defeated their nearest rivals Moss Bay B. The Miners raced to a 4-0 lead but it was a bit tighter in the end as they eventually won 7-6.
The Roundabout earned their first win of the season as they played Union Jack A.
Lee Johnson kicked off the evening with a win for the Roundabout and they didn’t look back as Sam Thursby capped off the evening with the frame winner for an 8-5 success.
Andrew Canfield put a dent in JJ’s D’s promotion challenge as he secured the final frame decider for his Grapes B team in a 7-6 win.
In other C league results the Railway enjoyed a second successive win as they defeated JJ’s D 9-4 while Union Jack Club B enjoyed a rather one-sided victory as they beat Vinnies Bar 11-2.
In the B League a top of the table clash saw Red House A host Harrington Legion B.
Sam Plummer looked to have put Red House in control as they went 4-1 up. Legion kept in contention but at 6-4 down in a race to seven a victory looked unlikely until the resilience of Will Kinsella and Lewis King set up Jordan Crickett to give the Legion an impressive come-from-behind 7-6 victory.
The Grapes remain joint top as Grant Porter secured the winning frame in an 8-5 victory over Seaton Royal Oak.
Red House B rescued a win as Dan Hallam held his nerve to secure a 7-6 victory over Pack Horse Pooligans.
A mid table clash saw Cons Club A get the better of the Miners in a 9-4 victory and the Bees Knees relegation worries deepened when they went down 10-3 against Station Road B.
