Plans for a replacement temporary Co-op store in Aspatria have been given the go-ahead.
The town’s existing King Street store closed on June 28 and the company was given permission to open a temporary store, stocking the basics, on a section of the town’s Queen Street car park.
The firm is demolishing the existing store to create new premises – which earlier this year was planned to open in May – and opened the temporary store on the Queen Street car park as a stopgap.
It said: “In this time however it has been determined that the small temporary store cannot cater for the needs of the community, and in order to effectively provide for the community of Aspatria during the construction works, a larger temporary store is now being proposed.”
The new temporary store will be an L-shape single-storey building.
