Barrow’s winless run in League Two was extended to nine games after a 2-1 defeat at Accrington Stanley.
The managerless Bluebirds remain 19th in the table, four points above the drop zone.
Stanley were the better side in the first half and were close on a couple of occasions before they actually broke the deadlock.
On 15 minutes Barrow keeper Wyll Stanway did well to push out a drive from Isaac Sinclair and was relieved to see Connor O’Brien hammer the follow up over the bar,
Shaun Whalley was next to go close when his looping shot had Stanway in trouble until he back-tracked and was just able to prevent the ball crossing the line.
The breakthrough came on 30 minutes when defender Benn Ward charged forward before unleashing a powerful shot into the bottom corner.
Barrow finished the half strongly and drew level four minutes before the break. Ben Whitfield’s effort hit the post and Charlie McCann was there to fire home the rebound.
The game was a fascinating contest in the second-half with both sides having their moments.
In the 83rd minute Barrow should have grabbed the lead when Josh Gordon was guilty of a major miss, firing over from close ranges.
It proved costly for in the 90th minute the Accrington substitute Josh Woods grabbed victory for Stanley when he headed home Whalley’s free-kick.
