
Over 150 people braved the Irish Sea to raise funds for Workington RNLI.
The annual New Year’s Eve dip in Whitehaven is organised by the Golden Sands Polar Bear Club and has been a fixture in the calendar for over 15 years.
A large crowd cheered the dippers on and Workington RNLI, Copeland police and Whitehaven Coastguard Team were also in attendance.
Many of the dippers were in fancy dress and the winner of the best fancy dress prize was the Grinch, who won a voucher for Cafe West.
Town crier Marc Goodwin was also there to cheer on the swimmers and also took part.

The club said it was a roaring success.
