Derby in prospect for Millom and Cleator Moor Celtic

A Cumbrian derby is set for centre stage in the West Lancashire League tomorrow – weather permitting.

Millom are due to host Cleator Moor Celtic with both sides keen to get back in action after the Christmas break and postponements.

The home side got off to a terrific start after last season’s promotion but that has rather tailed off and they are now ninth, two places and three points better off than Celtic.

The West Cumbrians have progressed well this season after being involved in a relegation battle for most of the last campaign. It should be a close contest.

Milnthorpe Corinthians will continue their fight to get away from the danger zone when they host Burscough Richmond.

New Whitehaven boss Brian Dawson will have to wait a bit longer to lead his side into action. They have no scheduled game tomorrow and last week’s derby at Cleator Moor Celtic was called off.

In the North West Counties League Holker Old Boys are away to Colne and need a win to get back in serious contention for the play-offs.

Although 11th in the table they are just three points of the play-offs and lead Colne by seven points, both from the same number of games.

In the Wearside League Windscale have a big game on their return to action. They are due to travel to Seaton Carew Seniors in the semi-final of the Shipwright Cup.

It’s a tough one for Stephen Fawcett’s team as their hosts are third in the Premier Division table, with Windscale back in 12th.
