Drivers are warned to take care as the temperature is dropping.
Gritters are out on the roads in Westmorland and Furness.
The council said: “Road surface temperatures are forecast to drop to -2.6 degrees today, with the risk of ice and hoar frost, according to data from our weather stations.”
Here where Westmorland & Furness Council’s gritters are treating today:

It can take gritters up to five hours to grit one road.
There are around 3,000 grit bins and salt heaps across the Westmorland & Furness area. People are asked to use salt sparingly – as a rough guide, a tablespoon of salt should cover a square mile.
Both Westmorland & Furness and Cumberland councils choose which roads to grit and when on a hierarchy system.
If you have ever wondered why your road does or does not get treated, read our guide here.
