
Division Two’s United Club B produced the performance of the week in the L&L Property Contractors Snooker League, as they defeated club mates, and Division One title challengers United A 3-2.
Richard Kirkham opened for the B team as he held off Dave Chapman 59–30 with a brilliant 38 break to boot.
In frame two Shane Tallentire increased the pressure on the United A team as he defeated Tony Hindmoor to double the lead with a 46–35 victory.
Andrew Carter stepped up in the third frame and in feeding off his side’s brilliant start he made sure United B moved to an unassailable 3-0 lead, with a 54-46 win over Clive Lister.
Darryl Walters ensured United A left with at least a point with a well-taken 49–25 win over Adam Sowden for 3-1, and it was Andrew Mitchelhill who held off United B’s Stephen Jackson 55–51, in the battle of the captains, to soften the blow further, ending the match at 3-2.
United B climb to 21 points in Division Two, while United A move to 32 points in Division One.
Workington Veterans Club were in fine form as they delivered a commanding 4–1 home win over Division Two’s Workington Golf Club.
Mark Tunstall got the home side off to a confident start, producing some solid play to defeat Mark Cowan 57–29 in the opener.
The Golf Club struck back in frame two, however, as Lewis Tilley delivered a composed 62–25 win over debutant Mark Mason to level the scores at 1-1.

From there, the Vets took control with Kevin Basnett winning 82–24 over Simon Frazer and Mark Tatton following with a tidy 53–18 victory over Phil Sorfleet for a Vets 3-1 lead.
Vets Paul Johnston rounded off the match in style with his best performance of the season so far, as a hard-fought 66–49 result over Bryan Walker completed a superb 4–1 Vets Club home win.
The result moves the Veterans Club to 25 points, keeping them in the Division One mix. Golf Club are now on 21 points in Division Two.
In the week’s third fixture, Station Road Club maintained their position at the summit of the Division One table with a professional 4–1 win at Maryport Social.
Station Road’s Darren Lawson opened with a brilliant 63–57 win against Ryan Ismay but it was Andrew Sharp who quickly answered back with a 62–37 success over Tom Thompson to draw level at 1-1.
John Teasdale added the next for Station Road, battling to a 47–31 win over Stuart Shepherd and team-mate Chris Hunter continued the run with a 57–19 result against Andrew Scott for 3-1.

Confirming the away victory Kevin Kirkham played some solid snooker for Station Road, as with a 74–27 triumph over Sal Cakmak the Division One league leaders made another step towards their pursuit of the top tier title.
Station Road sit on 39 points at the top of Division One, while Maryport sit on 22 points in Division Two.
Finally, Division One’s Workington Conservative Club produced a perfect team performance in a 5–0 demolition of Division Two’s Workington Legion.
Cons’ Richard McCarthy kicked-off the rout with a strong 63–39 win over Adam Hodgson, before Julian Plaza followed up with a 68–40 success over Jordan Ferguson for 2-0.
Keeping the pressure on, Brian Kendall maintained the clean sweep hopes with a steady 60–47 win against Simon Tootle.
In frame four Ryan Barker played a solid game to beat Lewis Straughton 43–13, and it was Dave Holland who completed the whitewash in style, making a break of 33 on his way to a 73–23 win against Dan Hallam.
Cons rise to 28 points in Division One, keeping pressure on the top two. Legion remain bottom of Division Two with nine points.
