The 2026 Hound Racing Association AGM is set to take place on February 1 at Hundith Hill, Cockermouth at 1.30pm.

The area committees have been busy with notices of motion which have been proposed and are on the agenda to discuss.

Whitehaven Area put the following notice of motion forward, proposed by Edward Crosby and seconded by Lisa Crosby, that there be no more than four fixtures at any venue.

Carlisle and Penrith Area put forward a proposal by Andy Horn and seconded by Mark Bryden that no more than three race meetings at any one venue, no change of field or venue name using the same course.

Another motion from the Whitehaven Area, proposed by James McLelland and seconded by Edward Crosby, referred to those two previous proposals.

That if the notice of motion was carried then there should be an addition which states that if the HRA wishes to host a major trail at a particular venue then that fixture was not included in the three/four.

Cockermouth and Workington Area put the following Notice of Motion forward, proposed by Darren McMaster and seconded by Fiona Dixon on a rule.

Addition to rule 60.1 (marked in bold text) – all race meetings shall be advertised on the official HRA website by the secretary, on the instruction of the promoter, at least one week prior to the meeting stating the name of the promoter, the grades of the trails, and slipping times. No additional grades of trails may be included unless advertised seven clear days in advance with the exception of the months of June, July and August whereby All In trails may be added to the fixture with only three days’ notice.

No trail may be advertised before a licence has been given under Rule 55 and full permission from land owners and other persons affected must have been obtained.

The fixture list should show all trail meetings at least one clear week in advance and it must appear on the official HRA webpage.

As well as the Championship and Points Competition trophies at the AGM, the HRA Junior Club will also give out prizes which is run by Donna Hetherington and Tracey Hill.
