Senhouse Street Club pulled off the shock of the day in the latest round of Sunday County Cup ties.
Division One leaders in the West Cumberland Sunday League, they drew 3-3 with reigning Premier Division champions Deer Orchard before winning the penalty shoot out 7-6.
Goalkeeper Jamie Lihou was the hero, saving Orchard’s seventh penalty from Cieran Poultney after Senhouse Street had scored all their seven.
It was a remarkable game in which Orchard led three times but each time Senhouse Street came back to level, the third equaliser in the 85th minute.
Orchard’s Gary Horsley said: “I’m afraid it was one of those days for us. They wanted it more than we did and deserved to win.”
Luke Graham (2) and Kyran Bertram scored the Orchard goals with Greg Quayle (2) and Grant Quayle responding for Senhouse Street.
Another Sunday County Cup game featured two of the Premier Division’s heavyweights as Northside came out on top 2-0 at Moresby Rangers. Matty Stephenson nd Luke Davidson scored the goals.
There should have been a third County Cup tie but The Sun’s game against Maryport Amateurs was called off and is under investigation by the Cumberland FA.

Although being played on Cleator Moor’s artificial pitch, Maryport had objected that the changing facilities were not up to standard as the site is under reconstruction with new facilities.
The other tie between Lowca and Dearham will be played this coming Sunday.
There were, however, four more games – three in Division One and the other in the League Cup competition in which Thornhill beat Sun Inn 5-3 with goals from Nathan Dryden (3) and Lewis Selkirk (2).
Sun Inn were kept in the game through goals by Dan Pearson, Grant Bakert and Ewan Trestianu.

Mirehouse Juniors moved up to third, and just a point behind their opponents King’s Arms, when they won a good game 4-2. They also have two games in hand of their rivals, although Senhouse Street appear to be on their way to the title.
Cyran Corlett (2), Braydon Walmsley and Lincoln Tunstall scored for Mirehouse with Kieran Fraser and Jordan Baird replying for the visitors.

Workington Falcons appear to be improving steadily and they moved sixth with a comfortable 6-1 win at Royal Oak. Dylan Bragg led the way with a hat-trick and also on target were Arron Glaister (2) and Dave Watson. Blake Hardy replied for the Oak.
In the other game Sun Inn Athletic were 5-2 winners against Swan with goals from Bradley Williamson (2), Liam Wilson, Mark Campbell and Luke Day. Dean Scholey and Ewan Laverty were the Swan scorers.
