Workington Town Women Reserves will not appeal after an investigation was announced into their County Cup game with Whitehaven Ladies.
Town won a tight game 1-0 but it came to light later that they had played an unregistered player in the tie.
Paul McKenzie, the first team manager with Town Women, said: “We have made a genuine error that’s clearly in conflict with the up rules so we accepted the FA’s decision and won’t be contesting it.
“The player involved was booked so it came to light from the disciplinary report.
“She was only included in the squad as there was space for her and only played 10 minutes in each half just to give her some game time.
“She’s been with us for eight months but she wanted to see her season out in Scotland before signing for us because she wanted to honour their trust in her.
“It was in no way an attempt to take an advantage but an honest and unknown mistake.”
Town Women Reserves had been included in last night’s draw but it’s Whitehaven Ladies who will face a quarter final tie now against their own A team.
Town Women’s first team are the holders and they face a trip to Penrith Ladies Pathway in the last eight.
Top tie could be the first one out of the hat, Carlisle Utd Ladies v Penrith Ladies while the other game sees Penrith Ladies Development at home to Abbeytown.
These games will be played on Sunday, February 15.
