Centre-back Tyler Magliore looks to be swapping one relegation for another after impressing in his time with Workington.
The League One club, which has been looking at him on trial is Port Vale, currently bottom of the table 12 points adrift – Reds are 10 points shy of safety.
Manager Jon Ryan, who was only appointed by Vale earlier this month, had Magliore as a player when he was in charge of Northampton Town.
Australian Ryan, speaking to a fans website, said that Magliore could benefit the squad and has impressed during training.
Brady said: “When I was at Northampton, I had him on loan from Blackburn. He’s the fastest and one of the most powerful centre halves I have ever worked with.
“Tyler picked up two injuries that were very unfortunate. They were not of his own doing, they were reckless tackles against him. He fought his way back and played very well when I had him at Northampton. He helped us get promotion.
“He had some great opportunities this summer when he was out of contract. For whatever reason players sometimes think they can get this, from really good clubs, or maybe a couple of clubs let him down in the end as well.
“He’s rolled his sleeves up and rang a mate who used to coach him at Blackburn and he’s gone and played for Workington, just to get his fitness and keep himself ticking over.
“I have the utmost respect for his attitude. There are a lot of footballers that haven’t gone and done that. He’s just gone to that level just to make sure he is match fit.
“So, yes, I feel he can really benefit us. Hopefully, if the potential is there we can maybe bring him on board.”
Reds manager Billy Barr had coached Magliore at Blackburn and his arrangement with the stylish defender was to play non-contract at Reds to get himself match fit and then if the opportunity came along to return to the Football League he would be able to go.
He had also been on trial with a Scottish Championship club, believed to be Ayr United, before the chance came at Port Vale.
