A man has been charged with theft and assault after he was arrested in Penrith yesterday.
Eden Police said the man, aged in his 40s and from Sunderland, has been charged with multiple offences.
These include:
- Theft from Sainsburys, Penrith
- Theft from Morrisons, Penrith
- Common assault
- A further three theft offences from the North East area
He has been remanded into police custody and will appear at North Cumbria Magistrates Court, today Saturday January 31.
A spokesperson from Eden Police said: “This result follows from excellent work from security staff at the relevant stores, utilising the shop-watch radio, allowing Eden NPT and Response officers to respond to the incident and apprehend him still in the store.”
