
L&L Property Contractors Snooker League fixtures moved aside this week for the Derwent Valley Asbestos Removal and Demolition sponsored Eric McMullen Memorial TKO Handicap Trophy.
Round four of qualifying produced some fascinating matches.
In Group A, Maryport Social produced a remarkable performance to defeat Workington Legion 5-0 away from home.
Ryan Ismay (+15) kicked off with a nice break of 49 in a 77–57 victory over Dan Hallam (+50), followed by an Andrew Sharp (+32) 70-24 win against Legion’s Simon Tootle (+43).
Andrew Scott (+31) made it 3-0 to Maryport with a 61-50 win against Adam Hodgson (+44) before Andrew Skidmore (+45) won the fourth, defeating Jordan Ferguson (+50) 62–30.
Stuart Shepherd (+21) completed the whitewash in the final frame of the match with a clinical 70-51 win against Gary Burdon (+50).
Maryport move up to second in Group A on two wins (out of four played for all teams) and +9 frames. Legion remain bottom of the group on 1 win and – 8 frames.
In the other Group A tie, Workington Golf Club delivered a powerful away performance as they defeated Workington United Club A 4-1.
Golf Club’s Phil Sorfleet (+19) got the away side going with a composed 61–27 win over Dave Chapman (+29), however it was Clive Lister (+19) who tied the match score with a 65-12 victory over Mark Cowen (+22) in frame two.
Simon Frazer (+32) put the visitors 2-1 ahead with a 68–58 victory over Darryl Walters (+25), before Lewis Tilley (+40) confirmed the match win with a 71-42 scoreline over Mark Suitor (+28).

United Club A captain Andrew Mitchelhill (+9) made a break of 40 in the last, but it wasn’t enough for the United A captain to overcome the handicap as Mark Carruthers (+32), ran out a 77-67 winner to seal the Golf Club match victory in style.
Golf Club climb to the top of Group A on three wins and +2 frames. United Club A sit third on two wins and – 4 frames.
In Group B, United Club B produced a superb 4-1 away win against Workington Veterans Club to go top of the group.
Richard Kirkham (+28) gave the visitors the perfect start with a solid 67-36 win over Mark Tunstall (+24).
In the next, Vets captain Kevin Basnett (scr) delivered match parity as with a break of 42 he defeated United B captain Stephen Jackson (+33) 85-74 in a frame of high quality.
Shane Tallentire (+44) made it 2-1 however, with a composed 58-48 win over Vets’ Mark Tatton (+26) in frame three and United B’s Andrew Carter (+45) continued his fine form to make it 3-1 with a 79-32 victory in the next.

It was team-mate Adam Sowden (+46) who completed a dominant win for the visitors in the last with a 62-48 success over Paul Johnston (+50) to end the match at 4-1.
The result moves United Club B top of Group B with three wins and +4 frames. Veterans Club drop to second on two wins and +2 frames.
Finally in Group B, Workington Conservative Club completed a week of away wins as they secured a commanding 4-1 victory over Whitehaven’s Rack Shack.
Brian Kendall (+48) got the Cons off to a strong start with a 49-22 win against Kane Harper (+45), before Alan Moore (+8) doubled the lead with a classy 82–31 performance against Chris McKelvey (+37).

Cons Richard McCarthy (+5) made a break of 31 in edging a tight third frame 77-70 over Neil Dougherty (+32) for 3-0.
Rack Shack pulled one back through Phil Denvir (+32), who defeated Dave Holland (+21) 65-33 with some excellent long potting. However, the Cons sealed the result in the last frame as Ryan Barker (+30) overcame Adam Morilla (+44) 67–32 in a competitive encounter.
Workington Conservative Club’s win wasn’t enough to lift them from the bottom of group B, they sit on one win and +0 frame difference.
Rack Shack are one place above on two wins and – 6 frames.
