Barrow coach Paul Crarey is to be honoured when he takes his Raiders side to Whitehaven on Sunday for a Championship game.
Crarey is among a number of ex-players from the south of the county who will receive their Whitehaven heritage numbers.
Crarey had a loan spell with Haven for 11 games during the 1992/93 and 1993/94 seasons.
It’s the latest batch of heritage certificates presented with all the recipients having connections with Barrow and or Millom ARLFC.
There will be a warm welcome in particular to Alf Hadley who’s now in his 89th year.
Alf is one of only three surviving players from the famous 1960 RL Cup quarter-final match against Wakefield Trinity which drew a record 18,650 spectators.
Other recipients will be Les Quirk, Ralph McConnell, Bob Mackie, Bradd Crellin and Ethan Kelly.
Representatives of the families of the late Ron ‘Ceddy’ Jackson, Rodney Morris, Edmund ‘Tally’ Thompson and Keith Irving have also been invited to attend.
Sunday’s certificates will be presented by lifelong Haven supporter John Parker, who made a generous donation to Trust in Haven earlier this season to help fund this season’s certificates.
