A section of the A595 has been closed from today for two weeks.
Cumberland Council said the A road is closed from Gateside to Beckside Bridge in the Whicham Valley for resurfacing and pavement reconstruction.
Work is expected to last for up to two weeks, subject to weather and site conditions.
The work will take place Monday to Friday between 7.30am and 6pm.
Traffic marshals will be on site at all times to help people reach their properties where possible. Access for refuse collections will also be maintained when safe to do so.
Access will be maintained at all times for emergency service vehicles, pedestrians, and dismounted cyclists.
