Workers at Wigton’s Futamura plant are poised for strike action over pay.
Members of the GMB union have rejected a pay offer of 1.2 per cent from the firm, which makes cellulose film for packaging.
Over 100 staff are represented by the union and GMB said the offer was turned down by 94 per cent of those who voted.
GMB said it was demanding a 3.8 per cent pay increase, in line with inflation and had engaged with conciliatory service Acas.
The workers will vote about whether to take industrial action.
A spokesman for Futamura said: “Futamura has invited the involvement of the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (Acas) to support constructive discussions and were pleased that union representatives agreed to attend when that invitation was made.
“We will continue to engage in good faith and believe that ongoing dialogue is the best way to resolve this matter.”
