Wath Brow Hornets are preparing for their second friendly of the season on Saturday when they entertain Cockermouth Titans.

The Brow are Cumbria’s only representatives in the top flight of amateur rugby league, the Premier Division of what was the National Conference.

Cockermouth will be playing in the Premier Division of the Cumbria Men’s League, which will be a mix of west Cumbrian and Barrow and District sides.

The Hornets complete their pre-season programme of friendlies on February 28 with a trip to Egremont Rangers in a game where the winners will collect the Gordon Cottier Memorial Trophy.

The long-serving Whitehaven forward had connections to both clubs and the annual confrontation is organised in his memory.

Wath Brow had opened their pre-season build-up on Saturday with a clear-cut 72-16 win over Millom who will operate in the new Cumbria Regional League.

Elwyn Evans was at the game and included here are a selection of his pictures.
