Whitehaven will be holding a meeting at the ground tonight looking for helpers as they bid to build on the massive turnaround in fortunes over the last 12 months.
CEO Lee Butterworth is particularly anxious to find a fundraising group to replace the now defunct Vice President’s Club.
He said: “They did such a fantastic job for the club raising money which we have lost since they disbanded.
“What we are looking for is a Budget Builder group, of about five people, who can come up with the money we need to bring-in more experience to the good young squad we have at the moment.
“I think we are about the only club in the Championship who don’t run a Budget Builder.
“We had a meeting with the coach Anthony Murray and discussed where we want to be for the 2027 season and having the means of improving the squad is a must,” said Butterworth.
The club has been transformed since the dark days of 2024 when they almost went out of business.
Facilities at the ground have been improved, players wages have been paid on time and although results have not been as eye-catching as off the field events, the team has had three tough Championship games to start the new season.
Butterworth has also appealed for any Haven fans with a particular skill-set, who feel they could help drive the club forward with specific tasks around the ground, to attend the meeting tonight which gets underway at 6.30pm in the JJ McKeown Bar.
