Present and past champions of the West Cumberland Sunday League went head to head – and couldn’t be separated.

Deer Orchard and Northside met in the League Cup group and at the end it was all square at 2-2.

Tyler Harrel scored for Northside and Orchard replied with goals from Kyran Bertram and Troy Paterson.

Also in the League Cup King’s Arms beat Thornhill 3-1 with goals from Lennox Hunter (2) and Jason Connery. Andrew Begbie hit the target for Thornhill.

A third League Cup group game saw the Zebras win 2-0 at the Royal Oak with a goal in each half.

Dan Little and Ben Carini scored the goals for the Workington side.

Only one more game was played on Sunday and that was the long delayed Sunday County Cup-tie in which the Sun beat Maryport Amateurs 7-3 after building on a 3-1 interval advantage.

Dan Hill (3), Keenan Mackay (2), Zach Martin and Owen Fearon scored for The Sun with Keenan Graham, Jack Greenhow and Lewis Moore on target for Maryport.

It gives The Sun a home game in the quarter final against Morton West of Carlisle this Sunday when the other ties will also be played – Deer Orchard v Denton Holme; Lowca Pirates v Northbank and Northside v Scotby.
