There’s growing Workington interest in the first big speedway meeting of 2026 on March 16.
Popular former Workington Comets rider Charles Wright has been included in the annual Peter Craven Memorial meeting at Belle Vue.
Two riders who were with the Comets in their all-conquering last season at Derwent Park in 2018, Nikolai Klindt and Rasmus Jensen, are also among the final additions.
Maryport racer and Great Britain star Dan Bewley, no stranger to winning the title, and current Workington rider Tate Zischke were among the first to be announced.
Former World Champion Jason Doyle will be chasing a fifth Peter Craven Memorial title in the big season opener.
He is the most successful rider in the history of the event, having emerged victorious for a fourth time in 2023.
Chris Holder, Jensen, Klindt, Niels-Kristian Iversen, Jan Kvech and Wright have all been added to the field which also contains the Aces’ top six along with Max Fricke, Fredrik Lindgren and Tom Brennan.
CEO Mark Lemon said: “The line-up for this meeting states once again that this is a premium event for British Speedway, and I’m very happy with the way it has come together.
“It has prestige written all over it and although people are looking for track time at this time of year, they’ve all got a competitive nature, and that really comes out in this event.
“We have a great racetrack with plenty of places for the riders to go racing, and this meeting does produce great racing year in, year out.
“Brady is going for three in a row, Doyley wants to make it five, Dan hasn’t won it since 2021, and there are a host of other riders who would love to win it and are capable of doing so.”
