Kendal Town had to settle for a point in their Northern League Division One game at Crook Town last night.
They had led 1-0 at half-time, then ttailed 2-1 before levelling and it finished all square at 2-2.
But in the last minute Kendal almost won it as the home keeper misjudged a cross which came back off the bar.
Then from a second cross Josh Winder headed inches wide.
The Mintcakes had gone ahead in the first minute when Winder was slipped in and he beat the keeper with a low shot into the bottom corner.
Matt Flynn’s men dominated the first-half but probably paid the price later for not being able to take a bigger lead into the break.
But two goals inside three minutes turned the game Crook’s way in the second-half.
On 67 minutes Kendal’s defence was undone by a low corner and it was turned in by Charlie Bunton.
Then three minutes later Kendal gave away another penalty – as they had on Saturday – and the successful spot kick from Ashton Houlahan put the home side in front.
It was hectic stuff because three minutes later Kendal were level. Substitute Jason Walker did well to find DJ Taylor and he cleverly lifted the ball over the keeper before finishing into an empty net.
Despite Winder going so close Kendal couldn’t fashion a winner and had to travel home with a point.
