A number of hoax 999 calls were made on Friday night.
Cumbria police said the hoaxes resulted in officers being diverted from genuine emergencies to deal with them.
Allerdale police said: “These false reports not only put officers at risk by pulling them unnecessarily across the area, but also place members of the public in danger by delaying the response to real incidents where help is urgently needed.
“Hoax calls are not a joke — they have real‑world consequences.
“We want to remind everyone that the 999 line is for emergencies only. Misusing it prevents people in genuine need from getting timely assistance.”
Following investigations carried out yesterday, Saturday February 28, police said they had identified one of the people involved.
Allerdale police added: “He has now been reported for misuse of the 999 system and appropriate action will be taken in due course.”
