
John Peel Darts League champions Aspatria Bowling Club took on their Wigton counterparts in their latest test.
They were buoyed by the return of Mark Sloan, who had been missing for the last couple of weeks, and got off to a great start with his first three darts being 112 before finishing with a 17 dart leg to show no rustiness.
Ali Edgar, Mike Sowerby, Ged Stockdale, David Graham and Eddie Carrick made it a clean sweep of the singles and when Sloan and Edgar took the first double to make it 8-0 the win was secured.
Duggie James and George Moore took the second double while Scott Stirzaker, Chris James and Duggie James won the first treble and the game finished 11-3 to the champions.
There was another 17 dart leg in the derby between Sun Inn A and Sun Inn C as 15-year-old Jayden Faulder turned in a man of the match performance to beat Adam Buchanan who was up against it as soon as Jayden got off with a 140 to carry on his recent fine form.
Dan Graham made it 1-1, while Zane Alderson, Ken McCartney and Mally Graham soon made it 4-1 to the A team before a 112 off from Shaun Allan pulled it back to 4-2.
In the doubles Jayden broke off with 100 as he and Matty McCartney secured the leg.
Sun C then took both remaining doubles to level the game at 6-6 through Mikey and Ben Allan, and then Lewis Fisher and Shaun Allan.
With Sun C looking for their first point of the season, and the game all square, it was Jayden, Matty and Zane that took the first treble to make it 7-6 before captain Ken McCartney, Mally Graham and Johnny Taylor secured the victory for the A team 8-6.
Silloth Bowling Club remain in second place after defeating Red Dial Arrows when Roger Barwise and Cam Pape had put them 2-0 up.
Wayne Southward, with a 180, Connor Hill and Matt Glencross hit back to put the Arrows in front before Jimmy Pattinson levelled the match for Silloth.
The Bowlers then took all three doubles to secure the victory via Barwise and Pape, Jack Robinson and Dan Redman and Trev Frith and Jimmy Pattinson.
The Arrows took both trebles to make the scoreline 9-5 to Silloth through substitute Mav Charters with a 140 alongside Matt and Shaun Glencross.
Letters B kept up their chances of avoiding relegation with an 8-6 win at home against Jovial Sailor.
Dale Weir took the first for Sailor before Wayne Iredale, Ben Tootill, with a 108 checkout, and Bob Graham made it 3-1 to the home side.
MacMillan then made it 3-2 before Owen Pattinson won the final single to give the Letters a 4-2 lead.
Neil Hillier and Iredale made it 6-2 but Sailor fought back to make it 6-4 through Ali Nicholson and Adam Jack. But James Rumney and Owen then secured the victory for the Aspatria side.
The remaining trebles went the Sailors way – Weir, Brake and Nicholson with the first and Jack, M. Winthrop and Ali MacMillan taking the last.
Blackamoor drew level in the table with Wigton Park after defeating their close rivals 10-4.
Greg Bullock, 120 Off, Dave Carr 100 Off and Alan Carr 108 Checkout, were the highlights. There were singles wins also for James Percy Senior and Junior. Shaun Little and Chris Pattinson had Park’s singles wins. Blackamoor also took all three doubles to secure a 10-4 victory.
The final game in Division One saw Bridge End A face the Goat A. James Musgrave broke off with 120 but Dan Stobbart hit back with 160. Then Daz Bowe, Louie Elliot and William Thompson won for the Goat and Dan Vallance and Kyle Brough made it 4-2 to the away side.
Musgrave and Vallance took the first double to tie the match at 4-4 but the Goat won every point from then on to run out 10-4 winners.
In Division Two leaders The Crown travelled to Carlisle to take on Southend Social.
George Mitchinson gave them a 1-0 lead, including a 152 Off, but Southend soon took control as Brian McGarvie, Lesley Pattinson, 122 Checkout, Laura Tweeddale and Emma McGarvie put Southend 4-1 up. Crown’s Jason Davidson then made it 4-2.
The doubles began with Crown taking the first two via Mitchinson and Jake Armstrong and Adam Walton, with a maximum 180, and Ryan Armstrong to make it 6-4 to the Crown.
Emma and Julie McGarvie then tied the game at 6-6, but the trebles both went to the leaders as they secured an 8-6 win and moved a step closer to the title.
Second placed Sun Inn B kept up the pressure with a 13-1 win away to Abbeytown Wheatsheaf with Ben Mattinson collecting the losers solitary point by beating Tony Dunn.
Adam Palmer, Mark Harris, David Shield, Ryan Fisher and Ken Bowes were all in fine form while substitutes Jobby Dunn and Graham Hewitt both also played their parts in an impressive team performance.
Grey Goat B played their last home game of the season in fancy dress and enjoyed a 9-5 win against Bolton Lions.
Edward, Codie Elliot, Will Jackson and Mumberson, 120 Checkout, gave them four singles but Roy Day and Robert Cockburn mad it 4-2 after the singles.
The game was secured after the first two doubles as The Goat went 8-2 in front, but Keith Dobson and Christine Johnston made it 8-4 and the trebles were shared to make a final score of 9-5, the highlight being Finley Carruthers 105 Off.
Bridge End B beat Hare and Hounds 8-6 after Decs Dyer, Jordan Docherty, Liz Humphries and Les Davidson gave them a 4-2 lead after the singles. George Studholme and Jake Bennett replied.
Jack Paton and Docherty won for Bridge End to them onto six points but Hare and Hounds tied the game with George Studholme and Roland Howe and Gaz Carr and Lee McCracken taking doubles.
Back came Bridge End as they took both trebles to win 8-6 and keep their promotion hopes alive.
Oddfellows beat Letters A 10-4 and it was in the doubles where the game was won as Oddfellows took all three for six valuable points.
Zak Ostal, Alan Potts, Ian Gate, Richard Brough, Alan Pattinson and Shane Ostal, alongside subs Martin Bell and D. Wilde secured the come-back after Marcus Hamilton, Paul Broome, Michael Park and Neil Falcon had given the Letters a 4-2 lead.
Rosley took on Red Dial Sparrows and started on the front foot as Robert Wharton got off with 150 to take the first point and Kev Wilson then made it 2-0.
The Sparrows then tied the game through Mark Thompson and George Robinson, 100 Off, before Rosley then took the final singles through George Cross and Baz Little for a 4-2 lead.
Wharton and Wilson, and then Del Dalton an Ash Mavis made it 8-2 and the win was secure. A double and a treble for the Sparrows saw three points clawed back but the game finished 9-5.
The final game in Division Two was a 7-7 draw between Wellington and Joiners Arms.
Linden Wilson, Cam Jackson, Jay Charters and Will Hodgson made it 4-2 after Arron Jackson and K. Knox had won their singles.
Wilson and Jackson took the first double; Jackson and D. Knox made it 4-6 before Knox and Sutherland made it 6-6 and treble each ensured the points were shared.
