David Prescott (Throstle A)

Sun Inn A slipped to second in the Aspatria Pool League when they lost 6-3 to Throstle A.

Playing on their own table, David Thompson got the Aspatria side off to the perfect start with an excellent 8ball clearance, before Throstle bounced back.

They won four of the next five frames, thanks to Alex Studholme, David Barton, Ian Johnston and David Prescott.

They finished 4-2 ahead after the singles and then won the first double to clinch the match, while the last two frames were shared to give Throstle A victory with two wins each from Johnston, Barton and Prescott.

Miners A also travelled to struggling Sun Inn FC, and it proved to be a one-sided match which saw a lot of missed shots.

The Prospect side took a comfortable 5-1 lead after the singles, with only Lewis Fisher winning in the singles for Sun Inn.

The dominance continued in the doubles with Miners A winning all the games and running out easy 8-1 winners.

Sun Inn B travelled to Miners B in a bid to keep tabs on the top of the league and suffered an early setback when in-form Chris Hird gave the home side an early lead by winning the first single.

However, Sun Inn ran away with the victory by taking the remaining five singles for a 5-1 lead. Miners won two of the three doubles, to leave the Sun Inn 6-3 winners. Chris Hird (Miners B) & Gary Miller (Sun Inn B) both had two wins on the night.

David Barton (Throstle A)

Letters A entertained Wigton Rugby Club and the hosts flew out the blocks with wins from Kev Thurlow, James Rumney and Liam Day for a 3-0 lead.

Finley Carruthers pulled one back for the Rugby Club before Phil Curtis made it 4-1 to the Letters A.

Michael Dodd pulled another back for the Wigton team, but they trailed 4-2 going into the doubles, where Liam Day, with his second win of the night, partnered up with Shaun Wilson to give Letters the win.

The Rugby Club team won the last two doubles to make the score respectable, but lost 5-4.

Throstle B played host to Letters B in Wigton but it was Rob Sewell who gave the Aspatria visitors an early lead. Wayne Jackson levelled the score, before  Letters moved back in front thanks to Liam Millican.

Ian Johnston (Throstle A)

However, Throstle then dominated all the remaining singles to lead 4-2 going into the doubles.

Alex Barton and Liam Millican then pulled another back, but Throstle B clinched the match, winning the last two doubles for a 6-3 win.

Wigton Park B.C made the trip to Silloth to play Cumberland A, and after some close frames, the singles were shared and the match was poised at 3-3 going into the doubles.

That’s when the match swung in the Bowling Club’s favour, winning all three doubles thanks to Ryan Ashbridge, Gareth Davenport, Brady Bell, Caden Corrigan, Steven Farish and Tommy Barton.
