An iconic Lake District inn is set to reopen later this month.
The Kirkstone Pass Inn – the highest pub in Cumbria – closed almost five years ago.
The 15th century inn, on Kirkstone Pass and almost 1,500ft above sea level, is due to open on March 23 after being taken over by Kirkby Lonsdale Brewery.
Stu Taylor, owner of Kirkby Lonsdale Brewery, said: “This is an absolute landmark in the Lakes. You don’t get many opportunities like this.
“The setting is unbeatable – you stand outside and you’re surrounded by fells in every direction. It’s one of those places that just takes your breath away.
“We’ve been looking for the right pub for a long time. It had to be somewhere special, somewhere with history and character.
“The moment this came up, we knew it was the one. We’re incredibly proud to be bringing it back to life.”
