Sun Inn Sharks: Luke Kershaw, Mel Scott, Jobby Dunn & David Wilson

Leaders Sun Inn Sharks took on struggling Butchers B in the Maryport Pool League and Jobby Dunn saw them through to another win.

Dunn turned round his own recent poor form to set the Sharks off and running while Ryan Bedford and Luke Kershaw then made it 3-0.

Lee Hodgson pulled one back to keep Butchers in with a chance but it was Dunn again, this time partnered by David Wilson who secured the win by taking the first double.

Butchers won the last two doubles to make the scoreline more respectable – 4-3 to the Sharks.

Maryport Rugby League Club B played host to second place Butchers A and it was the visitors that took a 3-1 lead through Greg Norman, Kevin Gartland and Lee Volkaerts. David Holliday was the only single winner for the home side.

Holliday was the man of the match, though, as he started in two of the doubles to seal a remarkable turnaround with the rugby club winning all three to take the match 4-3.

Bowling Club continued their push up the table with a fifth consecutive victory as they beat Swan 5-2.

Anthony Brough and Paul Kirkbride had singles wins for the Bowlers while Gareth Pattinson and Mark Mattocks levelled things up for the Swan.

However it was the Bowling Club who took all three doubles to leapfrog the Swan on frame difference into third spot.

Elbra C went to the Sun Inn, Dearham and took a 2-0 lead via David McCracken and Simon Forrest.

Sun Inn Dearham: Aaron Lister, Peter Kilgour, Kyah Frazer, Richard Manchester, Kevin Cosgrove & Gavin Manchester

But Dearham, fielding a makeshift side of Gavin Manchester, Richard Manchester, Kevin Cosgrove, Aaron Lister, Peter Kilgour and Kyah Frazer won all the five remaining points to wrap up a 5-2 win.

Grasslot Welfare went one down to Maryport Rugby Club B’s Jack Kemp before Barry Shearman, Trevor Bethwaite and Keith Anderson then put Grasslot in control and they went on to take all three doubles as well to win the match 6-1.

Sun Inn Ballers lost their fourth game in a row as they went down 5-2 at home to Maryport Social Club.

Willy Armstrong won his single and a double alongside Johnny Gray but the other points were claimed by the Social Club. Ryan Ismay, Andrew Egan and Stephen Ismay were on form for the Maryport side, winning their three singles and a man of the match performance from Ryan Ismay saw him win both his doubles to secure the win.

Dean Petre gave Glasson the lead at home to Elbra B but it was short lived as Graham Mattinson, Ian Frizzle and Shawn Bragg made it 3-1.

Roger Rivers and Mattinson made it 4-1 to ensure victory before Frizzle and Bragg made it five. Kieran Hughes and Petre pulled back a late consolation to finish the game 5-2 to Elbra B.

Elbra A took on Sun Inn Cannons and Zane Alderson took the first frame for the Aspatria side. Pat Walton, Jason Thompson and Andrew Henderson then made it 3-1 to Elbra.

Although Alderson and Tommi Allan then made it 3-2 they couldn’t get any nearer as Henderson, first alongside Walton and lastly with Tony Lambert, secured a 5-2 win for Elbra A.
