Holker Old Boys hope to bounce back this afternoon to reignite their challenge for a play-off spot in NW Counties Division One North.
They travel to next-to-bottom Garstang after losing on Saturday 3-2 at home to Fulwood Amateurs. That had followed a 3-2 midweek win over Colne.
While Garstang were losing 4-0 at home on Saturday to Steeton, the Old Boys lost to an 85th minute goal against Fulwood.
Tyler Spence had put them in front and Jamie Hodgson restored the lead after a Fulwood equaliser. But the visitors won it with a goal in the 85th minute.
It had been Holker’s turn to score a late winner in mid-week when they beat Colne.
Substitute Nathan Reid grabbed the goal that earned the 3-2 win in added time. Earlier Holker had taken a 2-0 lead through Tom Dawson and Tyler Wood only to see the visitors draw level.
In the West Lancashire there’s a Cumbrian derby in prospect with Cleator Moor Celtic hosting Milnthorpe Corinthians.
It’s the first of four successive home games and manager Gareth Agnew is looking to make up lost ground with a good points haul from these fixtures.
Whitehaven have to travel again after losing 5-0 at Milnthorpe on Saturday and they visit Burscough Richmond.
Millom, 3-1 winners at Tempest on Saturday, don’t have a fixture.
