
Fire crews spent over nine hours tackling a blaze at a West Cumbrian industrial estate.
Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service was called to Lillyhall Industrial Estate near Workington yesterday, Friday, April 10, at around 6.50am.
It did not disclose the exact location of the incident.
At the height of the incident eight fire engines were in attendance from Workington, Whitehaven, Maryport, Seascale, Wigton and Penrith fire stations, as well as a number of specialist vehicles.
At around 3.10pm, the response was scaled back but two fire engines remained in attendance working to control and extinguish the fire, with the support of the site manager and Environment Agency.
he site will continue to be monitored over the next 24 hours for signs of reignition.
The service said there was not believed to be any risk to the public.
