Whitehaven have confirmed that Joe Lowe and Aaron Turnbull have left the club with immediate effect.
Both players approached the club directly to express that they do not feel they are currently in a position to meet the demands required to compete at this level.
Turnbull has cited personal reasons, while Lowe has expressed difficulties committing to the training requirements and has indicated he was no longer enjoying the game at this time.
A Whitehaven spokesman said: “Given these circumstances, the decision has ultimately been taken out of the club’s hands, and we respect their honesty in coming forward.”
Head coach James Newton said: “I would like to wish Aaron and Joe all the very best in whatever their future holds for them.

“They have both been great servants to the club and sometimes your personal life comes before rugby league and that will always be taken into consideration in every decision I make as coach.
“Everyone from the club should respect their decision.”
The club added: “Aaron is a talented local player and remains highly regarded by the club. The door will remain open to him should his circumstances change in the future.
“We thank both players for their efforts during their time at Whitehaven RLFC and wish them well.”
