
Emergency services were called out to Coniston Water after reports of two people being in distress.
Furness Coastguard Rescue Team said they were called today to the incident.
When the team arrived, they said the people had been recovered from the lake and were being treated or the possible effects of hypothermia by Coniston Mountain Rescue Team at the Lakes Warden offices.
The pair were taken to hospital by the North West Ambulance Service.
It was a multi-agency incident which also included Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service, the Coastguard helicopter, Cumbria police and Millom Coastguard Rescue Team.
