Workington Comets’ young Australian Tate Zischke has received a confidence boost from his Belle Vue manager Mark Lemon.
Lemon is backing his young reserves to maintain their progress with the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership opener fast approaching.
The Aces host champions Ipswich in the first league fixture of 2026 next Monday April 20, and have been encouraged by early home displays from Zischke and rising star Will Cairns.
Lemon said: “The improvement we’ve seen from Tate from last year to now has been significant, and the sport is tough.
“These are professional athletes trying to do a very brave job out there, and it’s not easy. They are putting the hard yards in and it’s dangerous too.
“Considering where Tate has come from, I think everyone is quite pleased. We love a trier, and it’s good to see him back among it.
“Young William is going to come on. He scored paid-five at home to Leicester, and I thought he rode incredibly well, and we forget he’s 16.”
