Kessi Wilson and Nicola McMaster with Silver Dream who sparked a kennel treble at Oulton

The Dearham kennel of Joe Abram and Nicola McMaster picked-up a treble at Oulton last night and took the third ticket in the fourth, All-in race.

It was the fourth meeting over the Oulton course and just 30 hounds turned out on the night with a disappointing two entries for the seniors.

That gave a great opportunity for reigning champion Silver Dream to record another win and she didn’t disappoint.

Her only rival was Dream Catcher and after a nice level start the race was virtually handed to the double title winning Silver Dream.

Dream Catcher made a miss early on causing her to lose a bit of ground and reports from the second road crossing confirmed Silver Dream had established a two-minute lead over her only rival.

After roughly 20 minutes running Silver Dream had extended her lead and once out of the woods and over the final road onto the finish that advantage had been extended even further.

She finished well as usual to claim her third win of the season over a well-beaten Dream Catcher.

The pups did slightly better with four runners and Martin and Molly Burrow, Ian Freyne, Ger and Jennifer Kenneally’s Thorn Daisy was sent off as the favourite given her recent wins at the venue.

In fact Thorn Daisy was an early leader setting a good pace and after roughly ten minutes she had a 40 yard lead on Nicola McMaster and Barbara Telford’s Rodney Ranger, who in turn had a 100 yard lead on Colin Satterthwaite’s and Teddy Burrow’s Thorn Dot with another 100 yard gap to Andy and Alan Horn’s Show Boat.

However, once they appeared out of the wood over the final road and onto the finish Rodney Ranger had got to the front and gone clear, eventually winning comfortably to claim his first puppy victory of the season.

Thorn Dot finished second and Show Boat was third with the favourite, Thorn Daisy last of the four runners.

The biggest entry of 15 runners was for the Open-Non winners and it was to complete a hat-trick for Team Dearham.

Going along the beck edge Josep Abram and Claire Crone’s Silver Girl was leading the race well along with Stuart Smith’s Prospect Jill. Once they appeared out of the wood and over the final road crossing onto the finish Silver Girl showed a good turn off foot to claim the win and a treble for Team Dearham.

George McGimpsey, Gillian, Millie and Charlie Telford’s Charlie’s Dream was second with Tanya Satterthwaite’s Pied Piper in third ahead of Prospect Jill. Littermates (Adele/Best Mate) Tony, Marlene, Connor and Carter Irving and Gary Woodend’s Bewley and Paul Airey, Joanna, Sophie, and Lauren Hodgson’s Meadow Rosie took the last ytwo tickets.

The final race of the night was the All-In with a line-up of nine and once slipped Sarah and Baz Harper and the late Hartley Robinson’s 2025 Puppy Champion Delta Fortune was off to a good start, ahead of Sarah White and Elsie Horn’s We Get By.

Going along the beck edge Delta Fortune still had an advantage over the chasing hounds wo were being led by Nicola McMaster and Sadie Wilson’s Sarah Jane and Sarah White and Elsie Horn’s Malfunction.

Once they appeared out of the woods and over the final road onto the finish Delta Fortune had established a handy lead and went on well to claim the win over Malfunction and Sarah Jane.

We Get By finished in fourth followed by Brian and Joy Lister’s Minnie Million and Stuart Smith’s Prospect Jan.

Racing resumes tomorrow (Saturday 18th April) at Helton for John Pattinson’s Memorial race meeting (Seniors, Senior Maidens, Pups, Open Restricted, Veterans) with the seniors slipped at 4pm.
