Maryport Pool Leagues Maryport Social : Zak Bird (13) Stephen Ismay, Liam Holm (16) & Ryan Ismay

Maryport Social left Butchers B still seeking their first win in the Maryport Pool League after their 5-2 victory.

It was a triumph for youth, too, as the Social team included 13-year-old Zak Bird and 16-year-old Liam Holm who played important roles in the win.

The Social side went in front through Ryan Ismay, but Butchers fought back to win the next two frames and take the lead.

Stephen Ismay levelled before young Holm took out the decisive balls to win his double alongside Ryan Ismay and give Social a 3-2 lead.

There was a great moment for young Bird when be made two long pots before sinking the black to clinch the match winning point alongside Stephen Ismay to make it 4-2.

Ryan & Stephen Ismay then took the final frame to make it 5-2 and leave Butchers B still searching for their first points of the season.

Elbra A had a big win at leaders Sun Inn Sharks by 5-2 as the gap at the top was reduced to three points bunt unfortunately no individual details of the match were supplied.

Elbra B sit second in the table after a 5-2 victory round the corner at neighbours Swan.

Mark Mattocks took the first frame for the home side but Elbra’s Graham Mattinson, Ian Frizzle and Shawn Bragg made it 3-1 to complete the singles.

Roger Rivers and Mattinson then secured the victory and the last two doubles were shared.

Butchers A also won 5-2 at home to Maryport Rugby League B and remain level on points with Elbra B.

Lee Volkaerts and Kevin Gartland won two singles for the Butchers while Tyler Beales and Kieran Scott made it all square. Butchers took all three doubles to continue their fight for the title.

The Bowling Club got back to winning ways with an emphatic 6-1 win at home to Grasslot Welfare. Lee Ismayhad given Grasslot the lead in the first single, defeating David Edwards but it was downhill all the way after that as the Bowling Club ran away with as as Anthony Brough, Jason Miller and Paul Kirkbride took the other singles.

Mike Mcallig came in for Edwards in the doubles and they took all three to secure the victory.

Elbra C beat the Sun Inn Cannons 5-2 by taking all three doubles after the singles had been shared.

Zane Alderson and Jordan Falcon scored the two points for the Aspatria side while Elbra’s Stuart Thursby and Jonathan Webster won their singles.

Maryport Rugby League A took on Dearham’s Sun Inn and Ian Ivison gave them a 1-0 lead, swiftly followed Doc Holliday and Brian Patterson to make it 3-0.

Danny Dryden offered hope for the Sun, winning his single, but the rugby club were not to be denied and they took all the doubles to run out 6-1 victors.

Glasson Rangers defeated Sun Inn Ballers 4-3 completing a bad night for the Aspatria teams as all three got turned over on the night.

Cameron Stuart and Kieron Hughes won for Glasson and Gary Miller and Johnny Gray both took their singles so it was all square 2-2,. However victory was secured when Glasson took the first two doubles and it was only a consolation when the Ballers won the last.
