Workington opened their 2026 season in the ECB National Club championship competition with a comprehensive victory.
They travelled to Foulridge in Colne and won by nine wickets after the North West League side had been bowled out for 126 in 27.2 overs.
Matt Lowden was the most successful bowler with a return of 4-37 as the home batsmen were always struggling to make an impact.
Not so Sam Bates, the Workington wicket-keeper, who opened and hit an unbeaten 88, which included 11 sixes.
The West Cumbrians cruised to victory at 129-1 in the 18th over and will now travel to Leigh on Sunday in the first round proper.
Fellow Cumbrian sides Carlisle and Furness are in the same group and they have home ties on Sunday.
Carlisle host Golbourne while Furness entertain Wallasey.
