Armed police were called after a man was seen with a sword in South Cumbrian seaside town.
South Lakes Police said they were called about the man on Grange Promenade yesterday, Saturday April 25.
It was reported he was waving the 18-inch sword around.
Police said: “Armed officers were quickly on scene but the male had already left the area.
“He made no direct threats to any person and was seen waving it about for a small amount of time before walking off over Clare House Bridge.
“This is thankfully an extremely rare occurrence but the police always take these reports seriously.
“The person reporting remained calm and immediately telephone 999 which was the right thing to do.”
It is believed the man may have been part of a stag do in the town, who were dressed as Roman soldiers.
Police have asked anyone with further information or footage of the incident to call them on 101, quoting log CP-20260425-0101.
