Lake District cafe transformed into bistro

Fellside in Braithwaite

A Lake District cafe has undergone a refurbishment to become a bistro.

The former Jaspers Coffee House in Braithwaite, near Keswick, was bought by Jenny and Steve Brown in September and is now called Fellside.

Jenny said: “We have added in new kitchen equipment, fully painted inside with all new furniture, bar and lighting and built an outside decking area with a roof so people can enjoy the views while having a coffee.”

The couple, who have been running The Royal Oak in Braithwaite since 2022, decided to change the name to Fellside as it had such a beautiful view of the fells.

Jenny added: “Myself and Steve had been running pubs in Lancashire and when The Royal Oak came up we relocated our family.

“It’s always been our dream to be in the Lakes so we feel very lucky to have had this opportunity. The village is a lovely place to live and we have had lots of support from the locals here.”

A total of 25 staff are employed across the two venues.
