Workington Comets new reserve Max Perry has qualified for the British Under-21 final.

Perry, brought into the team at the end of April to replace Jamie Etherington, finished sixth with 10 points in the semi-final on Leicester Lions track.

In-form youngster Ryan Ingram scored a 15-point maximum on his home NDL track at Leicester to lead the qualifiers.

Ingram, who also rides for Scunthorpe in the second tier, raced to five wins out of five to again underline the rapid strides he is taking in the sport.

His victory over Jordy Loftus in Heat 15 on a sweltering afternoon put him in position to win the meeting, and he duly confirmed it with a victory in Heat 18.

Loftus (Edinburgh) dropped a single point to finish second with 14, whilst Harry Fletcher (Oxford) was third just ahead of impressive 15-year-old Ollie Binns (King’s Lynn) who scored 12.

Senna Summers, Max Perry and Charlie Southwick also made it through along with Harry Sadler who defeated Seth Norman in a run-off for the last place.

Ingram said: “Qualification naturally was the main objective, but I felt confident I had the pace to take the win.

“I’m really pleased with my performance and looking forward to the British Under-21 final at Redcar.”
