Cumbria’s Marathon Man Gary McKee will run from John O’Groats to Land’s End to support people in the hospitality sector.
Gary has committed to running the full 900-mile distance of the Pub Run 2026, which has been organised by the Licensed Trade Charity to raise £250,000 for people facing difficulty across the licensed hospitality sector.
Gary, of Cleator Moor, has completed 365 marathons in 365 days and most recently finished his 100toLDN challenge, which saw him run 100 marathons, culminating in the London Marathon with his son Beau.
He has raised over £1.3 million for charity
The Pub Run will see participants take on the 900-mile relay journey from John O’Groats to Land’s End over 30 days, from July 13 to August 11.
The challenge has been created to raise vital funds that will enable the Licensed Trade Charity to support even more people across the licensed hospitality sector, while promoting wellbeing and strengthening community connections.
Gary said: “I’ve always believed that incredible things can happen when people come together behind a cause that matters.
“The Licensed Trade Charity does vital work supporting people throughout hospitality, and I’m proud to be part of a challenge that not only raises funds but also shines a light on wellbeing, resilience and community spirit.
“Running from John O’Groats to Land’s End is a huge challenge, but the real motivation comes from the people we’ll meet along the way.
“I hope my involvement encourages even more individuals, teams and businesses to get behind the Pub Run and help make a lasting difference to those working in an industry that is at the heart of so many British communities.”
Joby Mortimer, director of charity operations at the Licensed Trade Charity, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Gary to the LTC JOGLE Pub Run.
“His achievements speak for themselves, but what makes Gary truly special is his ability to bring people together and inspire them to believe they can achieve more than they thought possible.
“Having Gary commit to every mile of the route reinforces the scale and ambition of this challenge. His involvement will help us engage even more people across hospitality and beyond, enabling us to raise vital funds that will directly support those who rely on the Licensed Trade Charity’s services.”
