A man is now in custody after homes were evacuated and armed police were called out to a stand-off in Ulverston.

The incident on Dale Street has now safely concluded after it started yesterday at around 7.34pm and continued through to today.

At around 10.35am, the man inside the address walked out of the property, handed himself to the police and is now in custody for a public order offence.

He walked out of the property with minor injuries to his hands/arms and has been triaged by the ambulance service.

Those people who had been evacuated from nearby properties will be able to return to their homes once final safety checks are completed, including with regards the release of gas at the property.

A BB gun has been located at the scene.

Cumbria Police thanked the public for their patience and partner agencies for their support during the incident.
