Emergency services were called to Barrow’s BAE Systems after evacuation procedures were triggered last night.
BAE Systems said at around 8pm yesterday, Tuesday June 23, a small amount of smoke was emitted from a piece of equipment being used in the Devonshire Dock Hall.
A spokesman added: “This triggered standard evacuation procedures and an emergency services response.
“No direct firefighting action was undertaken and, following assessment of the situation on site, all personnel returned to work.”
Fire crews from Bootle, Millom, Ulverston, Barrow and Walney were called out.
Bootle Fire Station said: “We arrived on site and was shortly stood down and sent to Barrow Fire Station on standby where we remained for around 30 minutes.
“Four Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service pumps remained on the scene to provide support where required. Crews arrived back at home station at 10.30pm.”
