Barrow Raiders are on the road this Sunday as they make the trip to Salford RLFC in the Betfred Championship.

There’s a familiar old face in the 21-strong squad as forward Ryan Brown has returned to the club on loan from Leigh Leopards for the rest of the season.

Prop Brown has played in eight Super League games this season for Leigh after starting the campaign on loan with Salford.

He had joined up with the Leopards on a two-year contract from Wigan Warriors at the end of the 2024 season.

An England Academy international prop forward who came up through the scholarship and academy ranks with Wigan, he gained valuable first team experience playing in the Championship and League One in both 2024 and 2025.

Warrington born, Ryan signed scholarship forms with Wigan in 2019 and featured for England Academy against France in 2023. At the start of the 2024 season, he scored two tries for Wigan in a warmup game at Midlands Hurricanes.

Brown played for Wigan Reserves in their 50-36 win over Leopards Reserves at Sutton Park in April 2024 and went on to make three appearances for the Hurricanes on dual registration in 2024.

He also enjoyed an extended loan spell at Barrow Raiders, playing 11 Championship games for Paul Crarey’s side.

He subsequently joined the Raiders on loan for the entire 2025 season alongside Kavan Rothwell to further his experience and became one of the club’s stand-out players.

The Raiders will look to extend their winning run to six games after they recorded one of their greatest comebacks in recent memory to overturn a 28-point deficit and claim a thrilling 39-28 victory over Dewsbury last weekend.

They will look to complete a double over the newly-formed Salford side for the first time since the 1965/66 season.

Brown comes into contention alongside Matt Costello, who has been absent from the previous two games but Greg Richards is unavailable for selection as he serves a one-match suspension. Youngster Stevie Watson also misses out.

Salford had an encouraging 52-28 home win over Workington Town last week but have only named a squad of 20 to face Barrow.

  • Barrow: Archer, Bishop, Broadbent, Brown, Bullock, Bulman, Costello, Cresswell, Elmslie, Forber, Johnston, King, Knott, Makin, Robson, Singleton, Stack, Teare, Toal, B. Walker, T. Walker.
  • Salford: Green, Spedding, Dwyer, Garmston, Hughes, Pilling, Gilford, Leake, Oakley, Abel, Stanton, Costello, Stanton, Bibby, Hartley, Yates, Lynch, Haldeby, Baldwin, Bate.
