[B]lackburn Wood at Oak Tree Animals’ Charity played host to a wide array of ghosts, witches and ghouls to delight and scare visitors and raise money to help animals in our region.
In the first ‘Fright Night’ to be held in the woods, visitors were able to join a hunt to recapture the wicked witch meeting werewolves, ghostly monks, vampires and an evil clown along the way. Tearoom visitors were able to sample delicious Halloween treats including “slime and fingers”, Krispie heads and toffee apples. Spooky apple bobbing, games, tombolas and face painting were also enjoyed by younger (and older!) visitors.

Sarah Batty Fundraising and Communications Manager at Oak Tree said: “Something strange was happening in Blackburn Wood on Fright Night – we received all sorts of reports of sightings of escaped and flying witches, giant spiders, ghosts and the Hounds of the Blackburnevilles. We are pleased that all our visitors had a fabulous time and we were able to raise over £350 to help the animals in our care.”
