[E]nergy Coast UTC Student, Jacob Leach was selected as member of Team England travelled to Australia in April 2018 to compete in the Commonwealth Games.
Jacob participated in the 100m Freestyle, 100m Breastroke and 100m Backstroke finals, achieving personal best times in the 100m Breastroke and 100m Backstroke.
Jacob Leach said: “My most memorable experience was walking out for my first final in-front of a crowd of 10000 people. I was very nervous but the crowd gave me a buzz to push myself all the way.”
Andy Davidson, Head of Sixth Form: “Jacob has been at Energy Coast UTC since Year 10 and is now studying Level 3 qualifications in Sixth Form. We have always been keen to support Jacob’s swimming talent alongside his studies. We are extremely proud that his efforts have been rewarded with a Team England selection and how he competed in Australia. Well done Jacob.”
